Interpretations of Amrcn Relig

This course is a historical look at the role of religion in American society from 1600 to present. The course willexamine the distinctive themes and characteristics of religion in America including the rise of denominationalism, Roman Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant forms of Christianity, secularism, pluralism, cults, religious diversity, and constitutional understanding of religion. Videos, classroom presentations, text reading, and supplementary reading will be used in the teaching of this course.
