Paramedic I

Prerequisites: BIOL 110, BIOL 111, CHMY 160, M 090, Montana EMT-B license and acceptance only with instructor's consent.Corequisite: EMS 275.The course topics include: emergency medical systems, paramedic roles, responsibilities, well being, illness, injury prevention, medical/legal issues, ethics, pathophysiology, pharmacology, venous access, medication administration, communications, life span, prehospital trauma life support (PHTLS) certification, advanced airway management, ventilation, patient assessment, history taking, physical examination, clinical decision making and documentation. Students successfully completing the paramedic course series may take National Registry examinations.
